(B.1914)
Born in Chiayi, he was inspired by Chen Cheng-Po in his youth. Since then, he had never stopped to paint. He learned to draw in Kansai Art College, Imperial School of Fine Arts (now the Musashino Art University), and Kawabata Drawing Institue. After graduation, he had thought art in Bejine and Taiwan. Many of his students are now famous painters. He had won many awards including: 6th, 7th, 8th National Exhibition First Prize, Paris Spring Sharon. He was also the first Taiwanese artist to win the French Government Awarded. In his paintings, he uses the “black lines,” the most recognized character in early paintings, to show the sorrow of his own life. In 1980, he moved to Paris. Living in France not only changed his presumption about colors but also affect him to exploring the possibilities of multiple-selves. |
