Introduce

(1910-1991)
Chao Chung-Hsiang was born in 1913, and graduated from the National Hangzhou Arts Academy in 1939. He traveled to Madrid in 1956 and later to America where he lived and worked from the late 1950's to the early 1980's.

He reconstructed the abstraction to express his personality, and let the ink and color sprinkle on canvas like a pouring rain; however, he did not abandon the layer theory of Chinese landscape painting. His paintings combined influences from both Chinese calligraphy and Western abstract expressionism. He was truly the role model for Chinese post Modernism.
