(1907-1998)
Chen Chin was born in 1907 and passed away in 1998. She was a famous painter of Taiwanese early stage art. When 18, Chen went to Japan to study art, and later became the first Taiwanese female gouache color artist. In 1927, Chen’s works were selected into “Taiwan Fine Art Exhibition,” where she along with Lin Yu-Shan and Guo Hsueh-Hu were given the name “Three Youngsters.” It was such delicacy and elegance in Chen’s work “Duet” (1934) that made her painting be selected into the highest honor of that time – Imperial Exhibition. Chen Chin’s perseverant pursuit toward art resulted in an assiduous work attitude and everlasting learning spirit. Lastly, her talent and observation truthfully present onto the canvas.
