Introduce

(1915-2002)

Chen Ting-Shih was born in 1916 in Fijian. Chen was born into a poetic family, but he had an accident while eight years old and then lost his hearing. Chen studied very hard in Xu Bei-Hong’s paintings and started learning art since then. He was the leader of Fifth Moon Exhibition, Modern Printmaking Association, and a member of many artistic associations.

Chen’s creation ranges from myriads of versatile styles and genres, including ink painting, calligraphy, print, sculpture, etc. His style contains east and west, tradition and modern, concrete and abstraction.
In most of his paintings, Chen depicts simple, irregular lines on large panel, along with black, red, blue, and shining gold. Furthermore, craze on special panels help to stress out the track of silent years passing by.
