Chen Yin-Wei was born in Yilan, in 1960. He completed his master’s and doctoral degrees of Creative Arts at University of Wollongong, Australia; after coming back to Taiwan, he gave lectures at several art colleges. His major solo exhibitions include: 1999 “Illustration of Taiwan-Sermon,” Artist’s Space, Hsinchu; 1999 “Art One by One – An Artist’s Analysis of Ambiguities in Contemporary Formosan Art,” Pacific Cultural Foundation; 2000 “The Island,” Galerie Grand Siecle, Taipei. Through logical method, Chen Yin-Wei makes reflection on Taiwanese core value. Historical images and Chinese ink limning are transferred into his paintings to depict modern people’s value.
