Du Xi was born in 1980 in Yunnan, China. He learned painting under his uncle, Shang Ding, and artist Tang Zhi-Gang. He then graduated from Yunnan Arts University, the Art Design College, majoring in oil painting. Due to his fondness for Chinese anecdotes, he adopts characters from “Romance of Three Kingdoms” and dressings from Peking opera to create those cute-version figures presented on his canvas, where each of the character is carefully drawn with delicate outfits and arms. The exquisite perfection of painting is as if Du Xi’s insistence in art, which foretells his great potential in the future. |
