(1904-1989, Spain)
Dalí was born in 1904 in Figueres, a small town in Spain. He made acquaintance with other surrealistic painters and poets by the time he visited Paris in 1928, and held his first solo exhibition next year, which turned out to be a great success. In 1941, he was invited by MOMA to participate in a group exhibition, and was described as one of the greatest surrealistic artists of twentieth century. Dalí was highly imaginative. He liked to transform real objects into bizarre images, showing the most direct feelings onto his art, which he later developed a theory called “Paranoiac-Critical Method.” Last but not least, his creation widely crosses various styles and media, ranging from paintings, to sculptures, furniture, and jewelry design. |
